Frequently asked questions

The questions we hear most

Short, direct answers to what people ask us most often. If your question is not here, get in touch — we are happy to explain.

What is AP Center?

AP Center is a guided exercise facility in Willemstad, Curaçao, for people with a neurological condition who have completed formal rehabilitation. Under guidance, clients keep working on movement, strength and everyday function. We do not provide clinical rehabilitation and we make no promises about medical outcomes.

How is this different from physiotherapy or a regular gym?

Physiotherapy treats a specific problem for a limited period. A regular gym has neither the adapted equipment nor the staff experience for a neurological limitation. AP Center is the step after: a place to keep training regularly, with adapted equipment and people who understand your condition.

Who is AP Center for?

Adults with a neurological condition — for example spinal cord injury, stroke (CVA) or multiple sclerosis — at any level of function. You may use a wheelchair. What matters is that you can communicate when something does not feel right or hurts.

Do I need a referral from a doctor?

No referral is needed to request an intake. You, your family or your physiotherapist can contact us directly. During the intake a physical therapist assesses whether AP Center is a good fit for you.

What does a session cost?

A session costs XCG 35 for people with a neurological condition. That is our social rate: the real cost is around XCG 80 per session, and donations and funds cover the difference. Payment for exercise takes place at the start of the exercise month.

Can I come in a wheelchair, and is there transport?

Yes, wheelchair users are welcome. For transport, tell us in the intake form and we will discuss the options with you.

Where are you, and what are your opening hours?

AP Center is at Winkelcentrum Colon unit 4, Willemstad, Curaçao. We are open mornings Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 12:00, and afternoons on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 14:00 to 16:00.

What happens at an intake?

The intake is an introductory conversation — not a booking and not a confirmation of an exercise session. We get to know you, listen to your goals, explain how we work, and go through cost and schedule.

Which languages do you speak?

We speak Papiamentu, Dutch, English and Spanish.
